Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan Meets Family of Sanitation Worker N Joy
Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], July 16: Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan visited the family of N Joy, a sanitation worker who tragically lost his life after being swept into a drainage canal while cleaning it. Governor Khan consoled the grieving family during his visit.
Officials reported that N Joy, 42, went missing on July 13 while cleaning a drainage canal at Amayazhinchan Thodu in Thampanoor Central Railway Station premises. His body was found after about 46 hours near the Sree Chitra Home at Thakarapparambu.
Despite heavy rains, rescue operations were carried out by the Fire Force, National Disaster Response Force, and Indian Navy. Scuba divers and a robot fitted with a camera were deployed, but solid waste in the canal made the search difficult. Scuba diver Vojin M mentioned the challenges faced due to excessive waste and darkness inside the canal.
