In July, Kerala has seen a significant rise in dengue and fever cases. The Health Department reported over 1,600 suspected dengue cases, with 493 confirmed. Fever cases have also surged, with over 55,000 confirmed this month.

District-wise Breakdown

Malappuram district recorded the highest number of fever cases, with 2,159 patients. Thrissur district had the most suspected dengue cases at 62, while Idukki district had the highest number of confirmed dengue cases with 31.

Yearly Statistics

In 2024, Kerala registered 22,959 suspected dengue cases, with 8,495 confirmed. Fever cases reached 12,57,900. The state reported 22 deaths due to dengue and seven due to fever.

Amoebic Meningoencephalitis

Recently, the Kerala government, led by Chief Minister Pinaray Vijayan, addressed the issue of amoebic meningoencephalitis, a rare brain disease caused by the amoeba Naegleria fowleri. This month, it caused two deaths and one hospitalization.
