On the 78th Independence Day of India, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan addressed the state from Thiruvananthapuram. He acknowledged the recent landslides in Wayanad and criticized the lack of precise disaster warning systems in the country.

Vijayan emphasized the importance of collective resilience and recovery, urging citizens to rise above their grief. He highlighted Kerala’s achievements in health, education, and governance, and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to evolving into a ‘Nava Kerala’ aligned with modern needs.

The Chief Minister also discussed various state-level reforms and projects, including temple eco-tourism, educational policies, and the ration distribution system. He stressed the importance of social justice, the use of artificial intelligence for state welfare, and the elimination of poverty and violence.

Vijayan paid tribute to India’s freedom fighters and praised the country’s enduring democracy. He noted India’s progress in literacy, education, health, technology, and its status as a global hub for IT and startups.

Expressing concern over the revival of superstitions and regressive practices, Vijayan warned against forces using caste and communalism to threaten progress and secularism. He outlined key initiatives promoting solar energy, green hydrogen, new industrial clusters, and enhanced infrastructure development.

Vijayan concluded by emphasizing the need for precise disaster predictions and effective defenses, calling for improvements in light of recent challenges.
