Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan Addresses Media on Wayanad Landslide Relief Efforts

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], September 21: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has accused the media of spreading false information about the state’s relief efforts for the Wayanad landslide. He stated that the media’s false narrative has discredited the Kerala government globally.

Vijayan emphasized that the issue is not just about false news but the agenda behind it, which he believes is against the state and its people. He mentioned that the misinformation aims to break the support and block aid for Wayanad.

The Kerala government had filed an affidavit before the Kerala High Court detailing the preliminary estimates of expenditure for relief and rescue operations. However, the media reported these figures as actual money spent, leading to confusion.

Vijayan also addressed accusations regarding the costs attributed to volunteers and central forces, explaining that these expenses are necessary and should be accounted for.

He highlighted that Kerala’s rescue and relief operations have been praised and that the state continues to support the victims and their families. So far, Rs 6 lakhs has been provided to 131 families who lost their loved ones, with additional funds allocated for various relief efforts.
