Kedarnath Temple Closes for Winter Season
On November 3, the sacred Kedarnath Temple in Uttarakhand, India, closed its doors for the winter season. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized the state government’s dedication to the temple’s reconstruction and redevelopment. Rituals and Traditions
The temple’s doors were closed with traditional Vedic rituals and chants, including “Om Namah Shivay” and “Jai Baba Kedar,” accompanied by the Indian Army band’s devotional tunes. The Vigraha Doli, a sacred procession, began its journey to Ukhimath, where it will arrive on November 5.
Other Temples’ Winter Closures
Alongside Kedarnath, other significant temples in the region are also closing for winter. Badrinath Dham will close on November 17, while Gangotri Dham closed on November 2. Yamnotri Dham will close on the afternoon of Bhai Dooj. The Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee reported that 18,644 pilgrims visited Kedarnath on the closing day, with a total of 1,652,076 pilgrims during the entire Yatra period.
