Kaziranga National Park Workers Honored by Architects’ Association of Assam
Fifteen workers involved in conservation efforts at Kaziranga National Park and its surrounding areas were honored by the Architects’ Association of Assam (AAA). The event took place on Sunday and was part of a three-day conclave themed ‘Integrating Nature in Sustainable Architecture.’
Swapan Nath, speaking on behalf of the conservation workers, urged architects to promote eco-friendly and sustainable development in Kaziranga to support tourism. ‘Development work in Kaziranga has to take place always keeping in view its environmental impact for the sake of sustainable tourism,’ said Nath.
The conclave, attended by around 150 delegates from across the nation, also saw the unveiling of a booklet on the architectural history of the North-Eastern region by Council of Architecture President Abhay Vinayak Purohit. AAA President Ranjib Baruah and General Secretary Pankaj Phukan highlighted the significance of the event, noting the valuable ideas shared by architects from Sikkim and Nagaland.
Notable speakers at the conclave included Abhay Vinayak Purohit, Charanjit Singh Shah, Utpal Sharma, Anne Feenstra, and Chitra Viswanath, who shared their innovative ideas on sustainable architecture.
