Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve in Assam has organized a special training program for about 700 Gypsy safari drivers and mahouts. This initiative aims to improve visitor safety and enhance their experience, with funding support from the Assam Skill Development Mission.

Focus on Wildlife Interpretation and Conservation

Sonali Ghosh, Field Director of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, stated that the training focuses on improving wildlife interpretation and visitor interaction. This helps tourists understand conservation efforts better. The first three batches of training have been completed successfully, and participants received certificates, badges, uniforms, and ID cards.

Government’s Commitment to Skill Development

Assam Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah highlighted the importance of training and skill development for those involved in wildlife tourism. He emphasized the role of local communities in preserving biodiversity and ensuring visitor safety. The government is committed to enhancing the skills of safari drivers, forest staff, and tour guides through tailored training programs.

Expert Mentorship and Rhino Conservation

The training program included mentorship from knowledgeable resource persons from various organizations. The day began with a Rhino Tableau Rally to promote rhino conservation, involving local communities, gypsy safari associations, forest staff, NGOs, and wildlife enthusiasts.
