Kazakhstan to Host World Nomad Games and Key Summits in 2024

Kazakhstan is set to play a significant role on the global stage in 2024, hosting key summits and forums and chairing authoritative international organizations. The country will host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit and the World Nomad Games.

Leadership and Foreign Policy

Under the leadership of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kazakhstan will continue a constructive and balanced foreign policy. The Embassy of Kazakhstan stated that the country will host several representative summits and forums in 2024.

International Organizations

Kazakhstan will chair several international organizations, including the SCO, the Collective Security Treaty Organisation, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, the Organisation of Turkic States, the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, and the Islamic Food Security Organisation.

World Nomad Games

The World Nomad Games will be held in Astana from September 8-13. This event will promote national sports, a healthy lifestyle, and cultural ties. The Games will feature over 2500 participants from around 100 countries and attract over 100,000 tourists.

Traditional Sports and Cultural Events

Twenty kinds of sports will be showcased, including horse racing, traditional intellectual games, martial arts, national bird hunting, and folk games. One of the highlights is Kokpar, a sport similar to polo but with a nomadic twist.

Daily cultural events will be held at the ‘Ethnoaul,’ featuring Kazakh craftsmanship, traditional musical competitions, ethnic fashion festivals, and national cuisine.
