Kazakhstan Welcomes Modern Travelers with Neo Nomad Visa
Astana, Kazakhstan – A new visa type called the Neo Nomad has been introduced under the directive of President KK Tokayev. This visa is designed for ‘modern nomads’—foreign tourists who work while traveling. The initiative is inspired by over 50 countries that have implemented similar programs post-pandemic.
Visa Requirements
To qualify for the Neo Nomad visa, applicants must show a stable income of at least USD 3,000 from outside Kazakhstan. Additionally, they need health insurance and a criminal record certificate. The visa targets remote workers in fields like programming, marketing, finance, consulting, design, and e-commerce.
Benefits and Economic Impact
The visa allows foreigners to stay in Kazakhstan for up to a year while working for their foreign employers. This initiative is expected to generate an economic impact of approximately 3.6 billion tenge annually if 500 people obtain the visa. Importantly, these tourists will not compete in the local job market.

Yerbol Myrzabossynov, Minister of Tourism and Sports, highlighted the collaborative efforts of various government agencies in making Kazakhstan a destination for modern nomads. With over 35 million such travelers worldwide, cities like Almaty and Astana are already among the top 150 cities attractive to them.
