Kavinder Gupta Criticizes Past Governments; Omar Abdullah Prepares for New Government in Jammu and Kashmir
In Jammu, former Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Kavinder Gupta criticized previous governments for neglecting Jammu and Ladakh. He emphasized the importance of embracing current equal development efforts. Gupta stated, “All the governments that have been here to date–be it Congress or National Conference–have treated Jammu and Ladakh poorly.”
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah met with LG Manoj Sinha to stake a claim for forming the government. Abdullah submitted letters of support from Congress, CPM, AAP, and independents. He mentioned that the swearing-in ceremony could occur on October 15 or 16, pending paperwork completion.
Abdullah assured that Jammu would not be ignored by the new government. The Congress party has formally supported the National Conference, leading to a coalition that won 48 seats in the assembly polls. This marks the first elected government in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370 and the state’s bifurcation.
