Kavinder Gupta Advises Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on India’s Foreign Policy

In Jammu and Kashmir, former Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Kavinder Gupta advised Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, chairperson of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, to avoid commenting on India’s foreign policy. Gupta emphasized that the Indian government is capable of managing its relations with Pakistan. This statement followed Mirwaiz’s hope for constructive engagement between India and Pakistan during External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s visit to Pakistan for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting.

Gupta stated, “The Ministry of External Affairs and the Government of India will think about its policy with Pakistan. Mirwaiz does not need to think or talk about India’s foreign policy, the government will do it. They should be more concerned with India rather than Pakistan.” He further criticized Pakistan for fostering terrorism and urged Mirwaiz to focus on domestic issues.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who recently returned to social media after five years, expressed his commitment to a peaceful resolution of the conflict, hoping for a positive outcome from the SCO Summit. Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah also expressed optimism about Jaishankar’s participation in the SCO meeting, hoping it would improve relations between India and Pakistan.

National Conference provincial president Rattan Lal Gupta welcomed the government’s decision to attend the SCO meeting, emphasizing the importance of maintaining good relations with neighbors. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will lead the Indian delegation at the SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting in Islamabad on October 15-16, focusing solely on the multilateral event.
