Indian para-powerlifter Kasthuri Rajamani could not secure a podium finish in the women’s up to 67 kg final at the Paris Paralympics. She finished eighth with her best lift of 106 kg. China’s Yujiao Tan won gold with a world record lift of 142 kg, followed by Egypt’s Fatma Elyan (139 kg) and Brazil’s Maria de Fatima (133 kg).

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) Media praised Kasthuri’s efforts on X, encouraging everyone to cheer for her. Meanwhile, Praveen Kumar won a gold medal for India in the men’s high jump T64 final with a record-breaking jump of 2.08 meters, setting a new Asian record. The USA’s Derek Loccident and Uzbekistan’s Temurbek Giyazov took the second and third spots, respectively.

With Praveen’s gold, India’s medal tally at the Paris Paralympics has reached 26, including six golds, nine silvers, and 11 bronzes. This is India’s best performance at a Paralympic Games, surpassing the 19 medals won at Tokyo 2020. India has sent its largest Paralympics contingent ever to Paris, with 84 athletes competing across 12 sports, reflecting the country’s growing para-sports ecosystem.
