Karti Chidambaram and Mahua Maji Criticize NEET Exam Irregularities

Congress MP from Sivaganga, Karti P Chidambaram, has called the alleged irregularities in the NEET 2024 examination a ‘complete mess’ and demanded that the right to conduct medical college admission exams be returned to the states. He stated, ‘The government has completely mishandled the whole thing. The entire agency should be dismantled.’

JMM Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji blamed the education department for the irregularities in NEET and the cancellation of the UGC NET exam. She said, ‘Middle-class people cannot afford expensive private medical colleges, so they prepare for government colleges. The central government is responsible for the irregularities.’

Congress Rajya Sabha MP Renuka Chowdhury also criticized the central government, saying, ‘Lakhs of children’s hard work and their parents’ money were wasted. The central government can’t give jobs and now they are not letting the youth get jobs either.’

The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducted the NEET-UG exams, is facing criticism over alleged irregularities, leading to protests across the country. An unprecedented 67 candidates achieved a perfect score of 720 out of 720, raising concerns.

The Ministry of Education has formed a high-level committee of experts, led by former ISRO chairman Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, to recommend reforms in the examination process and improvements in data security protocols. The committee will submit its report in the next two months.
