Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], September 1: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Irrigation Minister DK Shivakumar announced that the Yettinahole project, which will provide water to seven districts, will be inaugurated on September 6 during the Gowri festival.

Speaking at his Sadashivanagar residence, Shivakumar said, “Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the project on the Gowri festival. I spoke to the CM and he agreed to inaugurate it.”

The project will benefit Kolar, Chikkaballapura, Bengaluru Rural, Ramanagara, Tumakuru, and Hassan districts. Shivakumar mentioned that many leaders and political parties have cooperated to complete the project, which he took up as a challenge last year.

He acknowledged disputes over forest lands but assured that they are being resolved. Currently, water is being lifted from seven barrages and temporarily released to Vani Vilas Sagar dam.

“The beneficiaries of this project can view water being lifted during the inauguration. We will invite leaders from all political parties, farmers, and district in-charge ministers,” he added.

Shivakumar also discussed the 100th anniversary of Gandhi’s AICC presidency, focusing on spreading Gandhi’s principles among youth. On the Covid-19 scam report, he stated he needs more details before commenting.

Regarding the governor’s statement on pending applications, Shivakumar expressed surprise and mentioned efforts to understand the situation.
