Karnataka Triumphs at 24th National Para-Swimming Championship in Goa

24th National Para-Swimming Championship Concludes in Goa

The 24th National Para-Swimming Championship ended with Karnataka winning the overall championship title, scoring 392 points. Maharashtra and Rajasthan followed in second and third places with 378 and 248 points, respectively.

The event, held in Panaji, Goa, saw participation from 518 swimmers, including 360 men and 158 women. Notably, 231 participants were first-time competitors, highlighting the growing popularity of para-swimming in India.

Swimmers from 28 states competed, with 21 states winning medals. Karnataka’s victory was attributed to the exceptional performances of its athletes, reinforcing its status as a leader in para-swimming.

Individual Champions

In the individual categories, Mohammed Aasim from Kerala won the Men’s Senior title. Ravi Karthik from Andhra Pradesh claimed the Men’s Junior title, and Revansh from Haryana won the Men’s Sub-Junior category. In the women’s division, Karnataka’s Sharanya secured the Women’s Senior title. Maharashtra’s Saee Pujair and Abha Ganesh won the Women’s Junior and Sub-Junior titles, respectively.

The championship showcased the talent and determination of para-athletes across India, many competing nationally for the first time. It promoted inclusivity in sports and inspired others to pursue para-athletic endeavors.

Organizers are optimistic about future events, aiming to further nurture and showcase para-athletes’ talents nationwide.
