Karnataka Opposition Leader R Ashoka Calls for CBI Inquiry into MUDA Scam Involving CM Siddaramaiah

In Bengaluru, Karnataka’s Leader of the Opposition, R Ashoka, expressed dissatisfaction with the Lokayukta’s investigation into the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam. He believes only a CBI inquiry can uncover the truth. Ashoka stated, “The High Court has given the verdict. CM Siddaramaiah is involved in the case. Lokayukta Police has also called for the inquiry…I am not satisfied with the Lokayukta inquiry…Only the CBI inquiry can give the correct information regarding what happened in the MUDA case. That’s why we demand CBI inquiry.”

BJP leader Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy demanded Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s resignation on moral grounds, citing a loss of administrative control. Meanwhile, Karnataka minister HK Patil defended Siddaramaiah, asserting his respect for the law.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah appeared at the Lokayukta Police office in Mysuru for an inquiry into alleged irregularities in the MUDA scam. The inquiry follows a court order to investigate illegalities in the allotment of 14 sites worth Rs 56 crore to Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also filed a money laundering case against Siddaramaiah and others, applying the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Siddaramaiah denies the allegations, claiming political persecution, and refuses to resign despite BJP demands. The Karnataka High Court has issued notices to Siddaramaiah and others, seeking a transfer of the investigation. The court has asked the Lokayukta police to submit probe details by November 25, with further hearings on November 26.
