Karnataka Nursing College Resolves Beard Issue for J&K Students
In Holenarasipura, Karnataka, students from Jammu and Kashmir studying at the Government College of Nursing were allowed to keep their beards after intervention by the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA). Dr. Rajanna B, director of Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences, confirmed the resolution of the issue. Initially, students were asked to trim their beards due to punctuality and dress code complaints. After discussions, the college allowed freedom of expression, making the students happy. A Kashmiri student expressed satisfaction, stating they now feel safe. The college, affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, had guidelines for hygiene during clinical activities, which applied to all students. The JKSA had written to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah about the students’ ordeal under the Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme.
