Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge Criticizes India’s External Affairs Policy Amid Bangladesh Unrest

Mandya (Karnataka) [India], August 6: Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge criticized the Indian government’s External Affairs Policy, calling it a complete failure amid the political unrest in Bangladesh. He expressed concerns over the growing Chinese influence in the region.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar assured that the Indian government is in close contact with the Indian community in Dhaka. He mentioned that there are an estimated 19,000 Indian nationals in Bangladesh, including about 9,000 students, most of whom returned to India in July.

Former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in India after resigning. She requested approval to come to India at short notice and arrived in Delhi on Monday evening.

Meanwhile, President Mohammed Shahabuddin announced the dissolution of Bangladesh’s parliament to form an interim administration. The decision followed a meeting with leaders of the security establishment, political parties, civil society, and the Students Against Discrimination movement. BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was also released from jail, and the process of releasing those detained in the student movement has begun.
