Karnataka Lokayukta Raids Homes of 12 State Officials in Bengaluru, Shimoga, and More

The Karnataka Lokayukta, the state’s anti-corruption agency, is conducting extensive raids across six districts in Karnataka. These raids are targeting 12 state officials and cover 54 locations.

Details of the Raids

The raids are being conducted at the residences of six officials in Bangalore city, two officials in Bangalore Rural District, and two officials in Shimoga district. Additionally, one officer each in Yadagiri and Tumkur is also being raided.

Officials Involved

The officials being raided include:

  • CT Muddu Kumar, Additional Director of Industries and Commerce Department
  • Balawanth, Project Director of Yojana Nirdarshakaru
  • R Siddappa, Senior Veterinary Officer
  • K Narasimha Murthy, Municipal Commissioner of Hebbagodi CMC
  • Ramesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Commercial Tax
  • Several other officials

Previous Raids

Earlier last week, the Karnataka Lokayukta conducted statewide raids on government officials in nine districts, including Mandya, Kolar, Belagavi, Mysore, and Hassan. These raids involved over 100 Lokayukta officers and targeted 56 locations in connection with 11 disproportionate asset cases.

In March, a similar raid involving over 100 officials was conducted across Bengaluru, Bidar, Ramanagara, and Uttara Kannada districts. Another raid at 40 locations was conducted in February of this year.

Doubts Revealed


Karnataka Lokayukta -: The Karnataka Lokayukta is a special agency in the state of Karnataka that fights against corruption. They investigate and take action against government officials who are suspected of being corrupt.

Raids -: Raids are surprise visits by authorities to search for illegal activities or evidence. In this case, the Lokayukta is searching the homes of officials to find proof of corruption.

Bengaluru -: Bengaluru is the capital city of the Indian state of Karnataka. It is a major city known for its technology industry and is often called the ‘Silicon Valley of India’.

Shimoga -: Shimoga, also known as Shivamogga, is a city in the state of Karnataka. It is known for its natural beauty and is located in the central part of the state.

Disproportionate asset cases -: Disproportionate asset cases involve officials having more money and property than they can legally earn. This usually means they might have gotten this wealth through corrupt means.

CT Muddu Kumar -: CT Muddu Kumar is one of the state officials whose home is being raided by the Lokayukta. He is suspected of being involved in corruption.

R Siddappa -: R Siddappa is another state official whose home is being raided. Like CT Muddu Kumar, he is also suspected of having illegal wealth.
