Karnataka Leaders Respond to Governor’s Notice to CM Siddaramaiah
Bengaluru, Karnataka – The Karnataka Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot issued a show-cause notice to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam. In response, Karnataka Congress leaders have called the move ‘politically motivated’ and accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of misusing the Governor’s office.
Political Reactions
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara stated that the BJP is using the Governor’s office against the state government. He mentioned that the issue would be discussed in the Cabinet meeting and described the notice as politically motivated.
Karnataka Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao echoed these sentiments, accusing the BJP of misusing the Raj Bhavan in various states and calling the Governor a ‘puppet’ of the BJP. He emphasized that the Cabinet meeting would address this issue.
State Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister HK Patil added that the show-cause notice was based on ‘wrong premises’ and that the Chief Minister had nominated the Deputy Chief Minister to preside over the discussion.

Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar stated that he would provide a detailed explanation after the Cabinet meeting. He also mentioned his recent meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where he requested assistance for Bengaluru due to its growing population and importance as a revenue-generating city.

The show-cause notice was issued on July 27 following a complaint by social activist Snehamayi Krishna. The complaint alleges that CM Siddaramaiah and nine others forged documents to claim compensation from MUDA, involving fake documents and plots worth crores of rupees.
