Karnataka High Court Adjourns Hearing of Former CM BS Yediyurappa’s Plea in POCSO Case

The Karnataka High Court has postponed the hearing of former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa’s plea to dismiss a case against him for alleged harassment of a minor to September 27.

Yediyurappa, who is facing charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, has filed petitions seeking to quash the case and for anticipatory bail. The court has extended his exemption from arrest.

On March 3, 2024, a POCSO case was registered against Yediyurappa at the Sadashivnagar Police Station. The government transferred the case to the CID due to its seriousness. Yediyurappa attended the court proceedings and made his statement.

In June, after a non-bailable arrest warrant was issued against Yediyurappa, the BJP accused Congress of conspiring against him following their defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. The party claimed Congress was trying to divert attention from alleged corruption cases involving their ministers.
