Liquor Distribution Controversy

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], July 8: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has demanded that BJP national president JP Nadda explain how a BJP MP from Chikkaballapur allegedly distributed liquor to party workers at a public event in Nelamangala. Speaking to reporters at Vidhana Soudha, Shivakumar said, “Liquor has been distributed to BJP party workers at a public event in Nelamangala. To register a case in this regard is another matter, but before that BJP National President JP Nadda must answer how his party allowed its MP to distribute liquor to its party workers at a public event.”

He further added, “Rather than the local BJP leaders, it is important that national leaders of BJP tell people how the BJP is upholding the culture of land by distributing liquor in public meetings.”

Development Projects in Channapatna

Earlier on Tuesday, DK Shivakumar spoke at a ‘Government at your doorstep’ event in Channapatna taluk, emphasizing his focus on good work over unconstructive criticism. He stated, “Criticism dies while good work lives on for a long time. People’s service is important to me. I am the son of Channapatna, my doors are always open to the people.”

Shivakumar announced several development projects, including a grant of Rs 167 crore from the Irrigation department for Channapatna ahead of the by-elections. The Chief Minister has agreed to release a special grant of Rs 100 crore for the taluk. Additionally, Rs 70 crore has been allocated for various works such as elephant barricades, railway overbridges, and drainage. A barrage is being built for Rs 50 crore across the Kanva river near Addaalahalli, and irrigation works in Sattehala are being done at a cost of Rs 540 crore.

He also mentioned that about 2,500 people have submitted pleas for sites and 1,121 people have requested homes. Officials will issue sites and homes to the needy after reviewing the applications. A new 100-acre layout has been formed in Kanakapura, and a similar layout will be formed in Channapatna.
