Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar Responds to Allegations by Union Minister Kumaraswamy

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], July 5: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar strongly criticized Union Minister Kumaraswamy on Friday, calling him a “madman” for making unfounded allegations about the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allocation.

Speaking to reporters at Vidhana Soudha, Shivakumar said, “Kumaraswamy’s allegations about my involvement in the MUDA scam are baseless. He has lost his mental balance and badly needs treatment.”

When asked about Kumaraswamy’s accusation that “DK Shivakumar was coming out with MUDA factory after CD factory,” the Deputy CM responded, “Some people can’t sleep peacefully or think straight if they don’t take my name.”

Regarding Kumaraswamy’s claim that the State government had instructed officials not to participate in his Janata Darshan programme in Mandya, Shivakumar stated, “Let him conduct Janata Darshan for the people, who is stopping him? Officials follow certain protocols; they know what needs to be done. Can I go to Delhi and use officials in Delhi? I don’t know much about his Janata Darshan programme and I don’t have anything to do with it.”

Investigation into MUDA Plot Allotment

Earlier, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced on Wednesday that an investigation is underway to determine if there was any misuse in the allotment of MUDA plots. “The plots are currently on hold, and there has been no loss to the government. Those involved in the plot allotment have been transferred, and a senior IAS officer is leading the investigation. A final decision will be made after the report is submitted,” Siddaramaiah said.

Responding to the BJP’s allegations of misuse in the MUDA plot allotments and their demand for a CBI inquiry, the CM asked, “Why do they want to hand over everything to the CBI?” He noted that no cases were handed over to the CBI when the BJP was in power. He also mentioned that it was the BJP that created the law to provide alternative sites to those who had given up land.

Addressing the Leader of the Opposition R Ashok’s demand for his resignation, the CM asked, “What is my role in this case?” He further questioned if Ashok would resign if accused of dereliction of duty. During his tenure, Ashok got bail from the court when he was accused in the Akrama-Sakrama case.
