Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar to Form Fact-Finding Committee on Election Losses

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and KPCC President DK Shivakumar announced on Monday that a fact-finding committee will be formed to analyze the recent Parliamentary election losses. Speaking to reporters after a meeting with party office bearers, he said, “Our performance in the Parliamentary elections has not been up to our expectations except in the Kalyana Karnataka region. We expected more than 15 seats, but it hasn’t happened. The fact-finding committee will find out what went wrong. The committee will analyze each assembly constituency and submit a report.”

Shivakumar noted that while the media predicted Congress would win only 2 seats, they managed to secure 9 seats. However, this result did not meet their expectations, as they aimed for 4-5 more seats. Four meetings will be held under the leadership of the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister to review the performance. The AICC fact-finding committee will visit all states and submit a report to the AICC committee.

Shivakumar also mentioned various scams that occurred after BJP took power for the third term, including stock market, NEET, and NET scams. “We adopted a censure motion to condemn these scams,” he added.

Three teams will be formed to oversee preparations for the by-elections. Reports on the Shiggavi, Sandur, and Channapatna constituencies are being prepared, with the Sandur report due by July 3.

Shivakumar emphasized that party meetings should not be held in the homes of MLAs and must take place in party offices or wedding halls. He also announced the creation of new party wings for transport, slums, cooperation, and apartment welfare associations, which will work with smaller voter segments.

Discipline within the party is crucial, and action will be taken against office bearers who fail to hold meetings or violate party guidelines. New office bearers will be appointed as needed, and district in-charge ministers are instructed to hold regular meetings with office bearers.

Shivakumar concluded by stating that public discussions on internal party matters are not supported, and action will be taken against those who violate party guidelines.
