Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar Inspects Flooded Areas in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Karnataka, India – October 23: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, along with officials from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), visited the Kendriya Vihara residential complex in Yelahanka, Bengaluru, which has been severely flooded due to heavy rains. He instructed officials to carry out necessary remedial work immediately.

The northern part of Bengaluru has been experiencing severe flooding following a heavy thunderstorm. The Kendriya Vihar apartments were among the most affected, with residents unable to leave their homes. Other areas in Yelahanka also faced similar issues.

Yelahanka MLA, SR Vishwanath, visited a flooded apartment on a bulldozer amid the heavy downpour. While tech hubs like Manyata Tech Park are dealing with waterlogging, areas like Basavanagudi and Indiranagar reported minimal effects.

Heavy rains on Monday night caused significant waterlogging in various parts of Bengaluru, leading to slow-moving traffic on the outer ring road. The situation prompted criticism from opposition parties, with Janata Dal Secular mocking the Congress-led government for the city’s infrastructure issues.

Flight disruptions were reported at Kempegowda International Airport, with over 20 flights delayed and 4 diverted to Chennai. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more rain in Bengaluru over the next two days.
