Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar Talks About Milk Price Hike and Congratulates Rahul Gandhi

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar of Karnataka announced a Rs 2 per litre increase in milk prices to support farmers. He criticized the BJP for opposing the hike, calling it anti-farmer. Shivakumar explained that the price increase is necessary due to rising input costs and noted that Karnataka’s milk prices are still lower than in other states.

When asked about the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) Chairman’s statement that the proceeds from the price hike won’t go to farmers, Shivakumar responded, “Farmers are KMF. In my opinion, prices should have been hiked some more. Farmers are in distress and are selling their cattle. Let them check the prices of milk in other states and then talk about this.”

Shivakumar also congratulated Rahul Gandhi on being chosen as the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, calling it a step towards preserving democracy in India. He thanked AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and Sonia Gandhi for ensuring Rahul Gandhi’s appointment and expressed his commitment to working for the people of the country.

When asked about the demand for additional Deputy Chief Ministers, Shivakumar deferred the question to the Chief Minister, stating that he is the right person to answer.
