Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar Announces Major Projects in Channapatna

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has announced several development projects in Channapatna. Speaking at a ‘Government at your doorstep’ event, he emphasized focusing on good work over criticism.

Development Projects

Shivakumar revealed that a grant of Rs 167 crore has been released from the Irrigation department for Channapatna. Additionally, the Chief Minister has agreed to a special grant of Rs 100 crore for the taluk. Rs 70 crore has been allocated for various works, including elephant barricades, a railway overbridge, and drainage systems. A barrage costing Rs 50 crore is being built across the Kanva river near Addaalahalli, and irrigation works in Sattehala are being done at a cost of Rs 540 crore.

Housing and Transportation

About 2,500 people have submitted pleas for sites, and 1,121 have requested homes. Officials will review applications and issue sites and homes to the needy. A new 100-acre layout has been formed in Kanakapura, with a similar layout planned for Channapatna. The state government has also released 100 new KSRTC buses for Ramanagara district, and a bus service to Mandya will be initiated soon. Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy has instructed officials to restart the KSRTC shuttle bus between Channapatna and Maddur, which was discontinued 11 years ago.

Anti-Corruption Measures

An investigation has been ordered into an employee named Harshita in Nada Kacheri for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000. The employee will be suspended if found guilty. Shivakumar also instructed officials to form a WhatsApp group to share information on ration distribution, urging them to use technology to serve people better.

By-Elections

By-elections are scheduled in Channapatna after H D Kumaraswamy vacated the Assembly constituency seat to become the Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises.
