Karnataka Congress Leader Defends Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao’s Remarks on Savarkar

In Bengaluru, Karnataka Congress leader Nagaraj Yadav defended Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao’s comments about Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. Yadav stated that Rao supports the secular nature of India and accused the BJP of politicizing the issue. Yadav emphasized that Congress aligns with Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals, while BJP focuses on Savarkar’s agenda.

Earlier, Minister Rao, at a book launch, criticized Savarkar’s ideology, stating it differed from Indian culture. He mentioned that Savarkar, despite being a nationalist, had fundamentalist views and was a non-vegetarian, which contrasted with Gandhi’s democratic beliefs.

Following Rao’s remarks, Savarkar’s grandson and BJP leaders criticized the Congress, accusing them of trying to defame Savarkar and divide Hindu society for electoral gains.
