Bengaluru, Karnataka: On Wednesday, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced that the bill enforcing job reservations for Kannadigas in private sector organizations has been temporarily put on hold. The bill proposed 50% reservation for administrative posts and 75% for non-administrative posts.

The Chief Minister stated that the bill will be revisited and a final decision will be made in the coming days. He shared this update on his social media account, X.

Earlier, the Karnataka state cabinet had approved the bill, which aimed to provide significant job reservations for Kannadigas in private industries. The CM emphasized that the government’s priority is the welfare of Kannadigas, ensuring they are not deprived of jobs in their homeland.

State Commerce and Industries Minister MB Patil also addressed concerns from industrialists about the bill. He assured that the government would hold wide consultations to resolve any confusion and protect the interests of both Kannadigas and industries.

Patil highlighted the importance of Karnataka remaining competitive in the current industrial revolution and assured that the state would not lose out in this crucial period of industrialization.
