Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Stands Firm Amid MUDA Land Scam Allegations

Mysuru, Karnataka: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has taken a strong stance regarding the allegations surrounding the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land scam. He emphasized that he will not resign and is acting according to his conscience. Siddaramaiah, who became Chief Minister with public support, stated, “We have come to rule with the blessings of the people. The people of the state have given us a chance for 5 years.”

He further expressed confidence in the blessings of Mother Chamundeshwari and the people, asserting that he has done nothing wrong. “I believe in courts. We are trying to act according to our conscience,” he added, referencing Mahatma Gandhi’s belief in the court of conscience.

On Thursday, Siddaramaiah attended the inauguration of the 10-day Dussehra festival in Mysuru, offering puja to Goddess Chamundeshwari. The event was inaugurated by writer Hampa Nagarajaiah, with Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and other dignitaries present.

Amidst the controversy, Siddaramaiah’s wife offered to surrender 14 plots allotted to her by MUDA, following an inquiry initiated by the Mysuru Lokayukta. The investigation was ordered by the court to look into the alleged illegal allotment of sites worth Rs 56 crore.

Siddaramaiah criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of following Nathuram Godse’s ideology. He clarified that the land in question was a gift from his wife’s brother and that MUDA had encroached upon it. He stated that the situation has become a political conflict and that the money laundering allegations are irrelevant.
