In Mysore, Karnataka, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized the importance of fulfilling promises made during elections by launching welfare programs aimed at empowering people socially and economically. Speaking at the Dasara festival inauguration, he highlighted the implementation of five guarantee schemes, providing financial support to families and free electricity to households.

Welfare Schemes for Social and Economic Empowerment

Siddaramaiah, along with Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, had pledged at the Chamundeshwari Temple to implement these schemes if elected. Within eight months, all five schemes were launched, offering Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 annually to beneficiary families. The Gruha Lakshmi scheme benefits 1.21 crore women with Rs 2,000 monthly, while the Gruha Jyoti scheme provides free electricity to 1.40 crore households. The Yuva Nidhi scheme supports 1.82 lakh unemployed graduates and diploma holders.

Grand Celebration of Dasara Festival

Due to good rainfall, Siddaramaiah instructed a grand celebration of the Dasara festival, urging public participation. The festival was inaugurated by Dr. Hampa Nagarajaiah, a renowned Kannada and Jain literature scholar, praised for his contributions to literature.

Commitment to Democracy and Governance

Siddaramaiah reiterated his commitment to democracy, condemning undemocratic actions against elected governments. He expressed confidence in governing for the full five-year term with the people’s blessings and the grace of Goddess Chamundeshwari.

Support for Kannada Film Industry

At the Dasara Film Festival inauguration, Siddaramaiah announced plans to build a film city on 150 acres near Mysore, aiming to complete it within three years, supporting the Kannada film industry.
