Mysuru (Karnataka) [India], September 27: The Lokayukta Police have filed an FIR against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and others regarding the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land allotment ‘scam’. The FIR includes various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) such as 351, 420, 340, 09, and 120B.

The FIR names CM Siddaramaiah, his wife, brother-in-law, and others as accused. Earlier, Snehamayi Krishna, a complainant in the MUDA scam, filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court to transfer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The hearing is set for September 30.

This follows a Special Court order in Bengaluru directing the Karnataka Lokayukta to investigate allegations of illegal land allotment by MUDA to Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi. The Lokayukta’s Mysuru district police will conduct the investigation and submit a report in three months.

Karnataka CM’s Financial Advisor, Basvaraj Rayareddi, stated that there is no need for Siddaramaiah to resign, arguing that the inquiry is a political move rather than a corruption case. CM Siddaramaiah also reiterated that he will not resign, accusing the opposition of trying to destabilize his government.

BJP leader CT Ravi responded by saying that the Congress is scared of the investigation because of corruption charges. He added that the truth will come out through the investigation.

It is alleged that MUDA illegally allotted 14 sites to Siddaramaiah’s wife in a prime location in Mysuru city. On Thursday, the Karnataka government withdrew open consent for the CBI to conduct a probe in the state.
