Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Faces Investigation in Mysuru Land Scam
The Karnataka High Court has dismissed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s petition challenging Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot’s approval for an investigation into alleged illegalities in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam. Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara stated that the Chief Minister is prepared to face any investigation.
Parameshwara emphasized that the Lokayukta police, an independent body, will conduct the investigation without any external influence. The Lokayukta’s Mysuru district police are expected to submit their report within three months.
Activist Snehamayi Krishna had filed a private complaint, prompting the investigation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a rally in Haryana’s Sonipat, accused the Congress of being deeply involved in corruption, citing the allegations against Siddaramaiah.
In response, Siddaramaiah claimed that the BJP is using the situation for political gain. The High Court’s decision supports the Governor’s sanction for prosecution, noting that there was no misuse of authority. The allegations involve the illegal allotment of 14 prime sites in Mysuru to Siddaramaiah’s wife.
Previously, the High Court had granted temporary relief to Siddaramaiah, directing a special court in Bengaluru to delay further proceedings.
