Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], September 25: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is facing an investigation ordered by a Special Court in Bengaluru. The court directed the Karnataka Lokayukta to investigate allegations that the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) illegally allotted 14 sites worth Rs 56 crore to his wife, Parvathi.

Siddaramaiah responded to the order by stating, “I will provide a detailed response after reviewing the full copy of the order. I am ready to face the investigation and continue the legal fight.” He emphasized his determination to face the investigation without fear.

The Special Court’s order followed the Karnataka High Court’s decision to vacate its interim stay order, which had previously deferred the investigation. The petition was filed by social activist Snehamayi Krishna, whose advocate, Vasant Kumar, stated, “The Chief Minister must resign so the Lokayukta can investigate transparently.”

Advocate Laxmi Ayengar, also representing Snehamayi Krishna, expressed happiness over the court’s decision, stating, “Now we have to wait for the Lokayukta to get going on the investigation.”

The Karnataka High Court dismissed Siddaramaiah’s petition challenging Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot’s approval for the investigation. Justice Nagaprasanna ruled that the Governor’s sanction for prosecution was valid and did not suffer from non-application of mind.
