Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Faces Resignation Demands Amid MUDA Scam Allegations
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], September 9: After Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot approved a prosecution order against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, several BJP leaders demanded his resignation over the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam. This has led to speculations about the future of the Chief Minister’s position.
BJP leader R Ashoka commented that Congress leaders seem more confident than BJP leaders that Siddaramaiah will resign, and many are vying for the Chief Minister post. He stated, “More than BJP, the Congress leaders have more confidence that Siddaramaiah will resign. A race is going on and everybody is claiming to be the CM. No development is happening in Karnataka.”
Karnataka BJP MLC CT Ravi added, “All the leaders of the Congress party know that CM Siddaramaiah will be removed. Many leaders of the Congress party are claiming to be the Karnataka Chief Minister.”
BJP leader Dr. CN Ashwath Narayan challenged Congress, saying, “If the Congress party has any respect for the Constitution, democracy, or the law of the land, then it should take action against its CM Siddaramaiah.” He also noted that internal conflicts within Congress are becoming apparent.
On August 31, the Karnataka Governor’s office informed the state high court that the sanction to prosecute Siddaramaiah in the alleged MUDA scam was granted after careful consideration. On the same day, state ministers and legislators from Congress conducted a ‘Raj Bhavan Chalo’ protest, accusing the Governor of discriminatory behavior and demanding action against Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy in a mining lease case.
Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot sanctioned prosecution against Siddaramaiah in a case of alleged corruption involving the allotment of land to his wife by the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA).
