On August 27, in Bengaluru, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah met with Suman Bery, Vice-Chairman of NITI Aayog. During the meeting, Siddaramaiah highlighted the state’s ‘Five Guarantees’ scheme, which costs over Rs 52,000 crore annually. This initiative aims to provide direct income support to over 12 million families.

The Five Guarantees

  • Gruha Lakshmi: Monthly cash support of Rs 2,000 for women heads of households, benefiting 12 million women.
  • Gruha Jyothi: Free domestic power up to 200 units for 14 million households.
  • Anna Bhagya: Provision of 10 kg of grain per person per month, with an alternative cash transfer of Rs 170 per person due to grain shortages, benefiting over 12 million families.
  • Shakti: Free bus travel for all women residents, with over 280 crore trips taken so far.
  • Yuva Nidhi: Monthly stipends of Rs 3,000 for graduates and Rs 1,500 for diploma holders for up to two years or until employment is found, supporting 1.31 lakh youths.

Siddaramaiah emphasized Karnataka’s commitment to inclusive growth, sustainable development, and effective governance. He noted the state’s progress in infrastructure, entrepreneurship, and technology sectors, including its leadership in renewable energy and e-Governance solutions.

The Chief Minister expressed gratitude for NITI Aayog’s support and stressed the importance of continued collaboration to address challenges and unlock new growth opportunities.
