Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Criticizes BJP Over Supreme Court’s Bail to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], September 13: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah criticized the BJP after the Supreme Court granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Siddaramaiah stated that the decision is a rebuke to the central government for misusing constitutional institutions. He praised the judiciary for confirming people’s faith in justice.
Siddaramaiah posted on X, “The Supreme Court order granting bail to the Chief Minister of Delhi @ArvindKejriwal and releasing him from jail has further confirmed our faith in the country’s judiciary. This order gives hope to all those fighting for truth and justice. This order of the Supreme Court is a rebuke to the central @BJP4India government, which is misusing the constitutional institutions against its political nemesis.”
He added, “Let the @narendramodi-led government, which has descended into politics of hatred, learn a lesson from this court order and wake up. Ultimately truth will prevail, and justice will prevail. Satyameva Jayate.”
Meanwhile, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj accused Kejriwal of being the ‘kingpin’ in the liquor scam and emphasized that the Supreme Court’s bail decision does not absolve Kejriwal of his culpability. She called Kejriwal a “careless CM of a careless government” and pointed out that he has been barred from entering the CM office or signing any files.
“This is the fourth time that the courts of this country have found that the arrest of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is legal and valid… The investigative agencies had sufficient material and enough proof to establish the fact that Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest was valid. This also proves that not only is Arvind Kejriwal a kingpin in the liquor scam but also drowned in it from head to toe,” she said during a press conference.
The Supreme Court granted bail to Kejriwal in a corruption case related to the alleged excise policy scam, stating that prolonged incarceration amounts to unjust deprivation of liberty. Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21, 2024, and later by the CBI on June 26, 2024, in connection with the same case.
