Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Challenges Governor’s Sanction in High Court
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], August 19: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has approached the Karnataka High Court to challenge Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot’s recent sanction to prosecute him in connection with the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam.
Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, representing Siddaramaiah, stated that the petition claims the Governor’s sanction is politically motivated and aims to destabilize the elected government in Karnataka.
Earlier, Siddaramaiah expressed confidence in receiving court relief, stating, “I haven’t done anything wrong. My conscience is clear, and I have been a minister for 40 years without a single black spot in my political life. I am fully confident of getting relief in the court.”
Responding to BJP’s protest demanding his resignation, Siddaramaiah accused BJP, JDS, and the central government of conspiring against him using the Raj Bhavan. He vowed to fight the conspiracy both legally and politically.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar also addressed the issue, alleging a conspiracy to misuse the Governor’s office to destabilize the Congress government. He affirmed that there is no question of Siddaramaiah resigning and that the entire party and government stand behind him.
Earlier, social activist Snehamayi Krishna filed a complaint against Siddaramaiah and nine others for allegedly forging documents to claim compensation from the Mysuru Urban Development Authority.
