Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Announces Aid for Rain Victims and Infrastructure Plans

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced financial aid for victims of heavy rains in the state. Families whose homes have completely collapsed will receive Rs1.2 lakh, while those with partially collapsed homes will get Rs50,000. The state has experienced significant rainfall, with 181mm recorded, exceeding the expected 114mm. This has resulted in 25 deaths and damage to 2,070 houses.

During a press conference, Siddaramaiah revealed that the World Bank has agreed to provide Rs2,000 crore for flood-related projects. This funding will be finalized soon, with the proposal set to be cleared in the next Cabinet meeting. Additionally, Rs670 crore has been allocated for road construction, and Rs275 crore for NDMF schemes. The Chief Minister also mentioned that 14,000 potholes have been filled, with further surveys planned.

With more rain expected in November and December, Siddaramaiah assured that security measures are in place. Reservoirs are nearly full, and officials have been instructed to manage resources effectively. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of addressing lake encroachments and ensuring the distribution of seeds and fertilizers where needed.

In a tragic incident, an under-construction building collapsed in Bengaluru, resulting in nine fatalities. Siddaramaiah has directed officials to visit affected areas, assess damages, and distribute compensation promptly.
