Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], August 4: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary, K.C. Venugopal, announced on Sunday that the Congress will not give in to the conspiracy by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (Secular) to sabotage the Congress government. Venugopal stated, “We will go to the people, explain the facts to them, and fight unitedly.”

Venugopal spoke to the media after a meeting with ministers at Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s residence. He discussed serious developments in Karnataka state politics with the state ministers. He highlighted the BJP’s history of toppling governments, referencing the 2018 Congress-JD(S) coalition government’s downfall due to a BJP-led conspiracy.

Venugopal vowed that the party would fight these sabotage attempts and raise public awareness about the benefits of the guarantee schemes and the opposition’s efforts to disrupt them. He instructed ministers and legislators to visit their constituencies and communicate the government’s achievements and plans directly to the people.

Venugopal accused BJP and JD(S) leaders of trying to protect their interests and family members by creating issues against the Congress government, citing the Prajwal Revanna case as an example. He defended Siddaramaiah, emphasizing his long-standing commitment to public service and integrity, and noted that Siddaramaiah’s political journey and values are well-known and respected by the people of Karnataka.

Venugopal expressed concern that the BJP and JD(S) are trying to destabilize the government because of the Congress-led administration’s successful implementation of guarantee schemes for the poor. He claimed these schemes threaten the opposition’s political interests, prompting them to create controversies and undermine the government’s stability.

Criticizing the governor, Venugopal described the governor’s actions as unfortunate and indicative of BJP influence. He accused the governor of attempting to create a perception of instability by issuing notices to the Chief Minister. Venugopal dismissed the BJP’s claims of corruption as hypocritical, pointing out legal issues involving BJP leaders like Vijayendra and Prajwal Revanna. He assured that any genuine legal concerns would be addressed through appropriate channels and reiterated the Congress party’s commitment to supporting the poor and continuing its guarantee schemes.

Venugopal also criticized the central government for its inadequate support and funding for Karnataka in the recent Union Budget. He pledged that the Congress would continue to stand united and fight against these destabilization efforts.
