Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Accuses BJP of Poaching Attempts
In Bengaluru, Karnataka, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has accused the BJP of attempting to destabilize the Congress government by offering Rs 50 crores to 50 Congress MLAs. This alleged operation, known as ‘Operation Kamala’, was reiterated by Siddaramaiah, who stated, “They tried to destabilize the government by offering Rs 50 crores, in which they couldn’t succeed.”
Support from Senior Ministers
Senior Minister HK Patil supported the CM’s claims, suggesting they were based on credible information. He mentioned, “Our CM must have got credible information… But there is nothing to worry about, our MLAs and party are strong and our govt is stable.”
State Minister Ramalinga Reddy also commented on the situation, stating that the BJP had been trying to destabilize the government for six months but had failed. “They (BJP) have been trying for last 6 months, but they have failed,” he said.
Further Allegations and Reactions
State Minister Dr M C Sudhakar noted that the BJP had been publicly claiming that the Congress government would not last. He said, “Poaching MLAs from other parties is not new to BJP… This indicates that they (BJP) are trying all means.”
Deputy CM DK Shivakumar mentioned that credible information had been received regarding these attempts. He stated, “A lot of information is coming from the BJP side also. We will speak with CM and come back to you (media) on this.”
CM Siddaramaiah’s Assurance
CM Siddaramaiah assured that no Congress MLA would switch sides, emphasizing, “It is true that BJP is trying to destabilize our government, but they will not succeed in their plans.”
