Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah Faces Inquiry in Mysuru Land Scam
The Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, is set to appear before the Lokayukta police in Mysuru for an inquiry into alleged irregularities involving the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). The inquiry follows a court order from September 27 to investigate claims of illegal land allotment to Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi, involving 14 sites valued at Rs 56 crore.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has been actively investigating the case, conducting searches in various locations including Mangalore, Bengaluru, Mandya, and Mysuru. The ED has also summoned six MUDA employees for questioning and filed a money laundering case against Siddaramaiah and others, invoking the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Siddaramaiah has denied the allegations, attributing them to political persecution, and has refused to resign despite pressure from the BJP. The Karnataka High Court has issued notices to Siddaramaiah and others, seeking a transfer of the investigation. The court has asked the Lokayukta police to provide details of their probe by November 25, with further hearings scheduled for November 26.
