In Bengaluru, Karnataka, a political battle is heating up as the Congress and BJP prepare for the upcoming by-polls. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar is confident that the Congress will win all three contested seats. He stated, “We have confidence that we will win the three seats. The Congress government has done well.”

Congress Candidates Announced

The Congress party has announced its candidates for the Karnataka state assembly by-elections. E Annapurna will contest the Sandur (ST) seat, while CP Yogeshwara will run for Channapatna. CP Yogeshwara, a former BJP leader and five-time MLA from Channapatna, joined the Congress recently. His nomination was filed in the presence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar.

Channapatna: A Key Battle

The Channapatna seat is a significant battleground between two influential Vokkaliga leaders: Deputy CM DK Shivakumar and Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy. The NDA has nominated Nikhil Kumaraswamy, HD Kumaraswamy’s son, for this seat.

Shiggaon Constituency

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has approved Yasir Ahmed Khan Pathan as the candidate for the Shiggaon constituency. Pathan will face BJP’s Bharat Bommai, son of former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

By-Polls Schedule

The by-polls are scheduled for November 13, alongside elections in 47 assembly constituencies and the Wayanad parliamentary seat in Kerala. The vote counting will occur on November 23, as per the Election Commission of India.
