Karnataka BJP Protests Alleged Valmiki Scam at Freedom Park

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a protest in Bengaluru against the Karnataka Congress government over the alleged Karnataka Maharishi Valmiki Corporation Board scam and the MUDA’s alleged scam. The scam involves the illegal transfer of funds from the Maharshi Valmiki ST Corporation, which is responsible for welfare programs for scheduled tribe members.

Five Karnataka ministers addressed a press conference, criticizing the central government. Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge accused the BJP of using central agencies like IT, ED, and CBI to destabilize state governments.

Earlier, the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) detained Manjula, the wife of former Karnataka Minister B Nagendra. Nagendra was arrested in connection with the alleged multi-crore scam and was granted judicial custody until July 18. The case came to light after an official, Chandrasekaran, died by suicide, leaving a note alleging multi-crore corruption in the corporation. Chandrasekaran was a superintendent at the MVDC’s Bengaluru office.

In his six-page suicide note, Chandrasekaran named three officials and demanded action against them. On June 6, Nagendra announced his voluntary resignation amid the ongoing investigation, denying all allegations and expressing confidence in his innocence.
