Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], August 5: Karnataka BJP president BY Vijayendra targeted the Congress and the Gandhi family on Monday, accusing them of failing to deliver on their poll promises in the state. Speaking during the ‘Mysuru Chalo’ padayatra, jointly organized by the BJP and JD-U, Vijayendra criticized Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for allegedly ignoring many corruption cases.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal-Secular (JDS) opposition alliance in Karnataka began its 10-day ‘Mysore Chalo’ padayatra on August 3, starting from Kengeri in Bengaluru to Mysore, to protest against alleged MUDA and Valmiki Corporation scams. The march reached Channapatna today.

Vijayendra stated, “Congress party had promised the people of Karnataka that if they come to power they will provide good administration, good development, and a corruption-free government, but this government led by Siddaramaiah failed on all fronts. Farmers are suffering and the CM has ignored many corruption cases.”

He added, “This CM has become a puppet in the hands of Congress’s high command. Karnataka has become an ATM for the Congress party and the Gandhi family. So we are fighting this and we want this corrupt CM to be removed.”

Former Karnataka CM and Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy said, “We have already released all the documents in front of CM Siddaramaiah, he ran away from facing this issue. He can’t face this issue individually. If he is innocent, why is he taking the help of ministers and high command? I am the puppet of Kannadigas, the charges against me (a puppet of BJP) are baseless.”

However, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar criticized BJP’s padayatra over the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam, stating that they are trying to make an issue out of a non-issue.
