Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra Demands CM Siddaramaiah’s Resignation Over MUDA Land Scam
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], August 17: Karnataka BJP president BY Vijayendra has called for the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah after the Governor approved legal action against him in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land scam.
Vijayendra emphasized that Siddaramaiah’s resignation is essential for a fair investigation and to uphold the dignity of the Chief Minister’s office. He stated, “The Governor has used his constitutional powers to authorize legal action on the MUDA scam complaint against the Chief Minister. Given the substantial evidence and serious allegations of corruption and favoritism within the Congress government, it is crucial that the Chief Minister steps down.”
On Saturday, Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot granted permission to prosecute Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the alleged MUDA scam. In response, Siddaramaiah asserted that the entire State cabinet supports him, saying, “The entire Cabinet, party high command, all MLAs, MLCs, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs are with me.”
The Karnataka government plans to challenge the Governor’s decision in the High Court. Siddaramaiah has maintained that “everything was done according to the law.”
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar also expressed support for Siddaramaiah, stating, “We stand with CM Siddaramaiah. The party, the high command, the entire state, and the Cabinet stand with him. We will fight it legally and politically. This is nothing but a clear conspiracy against backwards-class CM Siddaramaiah who is running the government for the second time.”
Earlier, social activist Snehamayi Krishna filed a complaint against Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and nine others, accusing them of forging documents to claim compensation from the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).
