New Delhi [India], September 27: Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ramesh NR has filed a complaint with the Karnataka Lokayukta against Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and others. The complaint accuses them of land grabbing involving the Siddhartha Vihar Trust, which is reportedly linked to Kharge’s family.

BJP IT Cell Head Amit Malviya posted on X, “Ramesh NR of BJP has filed a complaint with Karnataka Lokayukta against Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and others, alleging land grab by the Siddhartha Vihar Trust owned by Kharge’s family.” Malviya added that the trust received free land from the Congress government, raising questions about nepotism and criminal breach of trust.

Meanwhile, the Lokayukta Police filed an FIR on Friday against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and others in connection with the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land allotment scam. The FIR, filed by the Mysuru Lokayukta, includes various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and names CM Siddaramaiah, his wife, brother-in-law, and others as accused.

Earlier in the day, Snehamayi Krishna, one of the complainants in the MUDA scam, filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court seeking to transfer the case from the Lokayukta to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The matter is expected to be heard on September 30.

This follows a Special Court order in Bengaluru directing the Karnataka Lokayukta to investigate allegations of illegalities in the allotment of 14 sites worth Rs 56 crore to CM Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvathi by MUDA. The Mysuru district police will conduct the investigation and submit a report in three months.

Karnataka CM’s Financial Advisor Basvaraj Rayareddi stated that there is no need for CM Siddaramaiah to resign. He argued that the High Court has only ordered an inquiry, not a prosecution, and that the issue might be a procedural lapse rather than corruption.

CM Siddaramaiah reiterated that he will not resign over the alleged MUDA land allotment scam, accusing the opposition of trying to destabilize his government. He pointed out that HD Kumaraswamy, a minister in the Narendra Modi government, is also on bail after an FIR was lodged against him.

BJP leader CT Ravi commented that the Congress is scared because of corruption charges. He stated that the Congress revoked general consent for the CBI to investigate the state because they are corrupt and afraid of the investigation.

It is alleged that MUDA illegally allotted 14 sites to CM Siddaramaiah’s wife in a prime location in Mysuru city. On Thursday, the Karnataka government withdrew open consent for the CBI to conduct a probe in the state.
