Karnataka Battles Dengue: Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao and CM Siddaramaiah Take Action

Bengaluru, Karnataka is facing a rise in dengue cases. As of July 8, 7,362 cases have been reported. Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao stated that they are strictly monitoring the situation and have instructed all departments to continue source reduction efforts. Asha workers and volunteers are conducting house-to-house checks to control the spread of mosquitoes and prevent deaths.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized the need to eliminate mosquito breeding sites and instructed officials to allocate 10 beds in each hospital ward for dengue patients. He also announced the formation of a task force in every district and the distribution of free mosquito nets to slum residents.

Dr. Indira Kabade, Superintendent of KC General Hospital, reported that most dengue cases are mild and treated in the outpatient department. Severe cases are admitted to the hospital, where patients typically recover within two to three days.
