Advanced Technology and Infrastructure

Karan Adani, Managing Director of Adani Ports and SEZ Limited (APSEZ), emphasized the port’s state-of-the-art infrastructure. He stated, “San Fernando – now berthed at our harbour is a symbol of a new, glorious achievement in Indian maritime history. It is a messenger that will tell the world that India’s first transshipment terminal and the largest deepwater port has begun commercial operations.”

Adani highlighted that Vizhinjam features South Asia’s most advanced container handling technology. Once the automation and Vessel Traffic Management System are complete, Vizhinjam will be one of the most technologically sophisticated transshipment ports globally.

Significant Investment and Job Creation

By 2028-29, the Kerala Government and Adani Vizhinjam Port will have invested a total of Rs 20,000 crore in the project. The port aims to handle 1.5 million TEUs annually and create over 5,500 direct and indirect jobs.

Adani also mentioned the development of ancillary facilities, including a modern fishing harbour, bunkering facilities, an outer ring road, a seafood park, cruise tourism facilities, and an industrial corridor.
