Kapil Parmar Wins India’s First Paralympic Judo Medal in Paris

Kapil Parmar, India’s top para-judo player, has made history by winning a bronze medal in the Men’s J1 – 60 KG category at the Paris Paralympics. This is the first time India has won a Paralympic medal in judo.

Although Kapil lost in the semifinals due to the loud crowd noise, he managed to defeat Brazil’s Elielton de Oliveira to secure the bronze medal. Kapil expressed his happiness and mentioned that his 12 years of hard work had paid off.

In another event, Praveen Kumar won a gold medal in the men’s high jump T64 final, setting a new Asian record with a jump of 2.08 meters. This achievement has contributed to India’s medal tally at the Paris Paralympics, which now stands at 26, including six golds, nine silvers, and 11 bronzes. This is the highest number of gold medals India has ever won at a Paralympic Games.

India has sent its largest Paralympics contingent ever to Paris, with 84 athletes competing in 12 sports. The country’s para-athletes have made the nation proud with their outstanding performances.
